About Steve
Steven Wolf is a composer and certified music educator based out of Hartford, Connecticut, and the Owner/Operator of LiveMovieScores, providing music for students to play live-to-picture in concert. He has been writing music and designing shows for over 20 years, creating awesome musical experiences for audiences, performers, and students alike.
The past decade has seen an explosion of popularity for concerts where audiences can watch a feature film with musical score performed by a live orchestra. LiveMovieScores is spearheading the effort to bring that experience to students in school bands and community ensembles. With scores and curricular goals tailored to the playing abilities of beginner to intermediate musicians, band directors can give their ensemble the chance to play live-to-picture like the pros and their audiences a totally new kind of concert!
For the past decade, Steven has been a public school music teacher working with bands, percussion ensembles, choirs, and music technology classes. He is currently the head of the Music Department for East Haven Public Schools and the band director for the 6-time National Champion East Haven Co-op Marching Band. In addition to his full time work with high school students, he has been performing and competing in the barbershop quartet world, winning multiple quartet contests and building a business as an arranger and coach.
Steven earned a Masters in Film Scoring from the Berklee School of Music and a Bachelors in Music Education from the Hartt School, studying Euphonium, Jazz Trombone, and Composition, as well as founding men’s acapella group, Hawkapella and performing with the Boston Crusaders during the summer. From there, he enlisted as a bandsman with the 102d CT Army National Guard Band, graduating at the top of his class from the Armed Forces School of Music. He spent the next few years serving his country while freelancing as an instructor and designer for marching ensembles for schools and Drum Corps International, gaining significant experience with musical storytelling through the marching arts.
